The airfield is home to UK Parachuting, a British Parachute Association Approved Drop Zone operating a 14 place Cessna Caravan C208 aircraft. The drop zone is open for parachuting most days, weather permitting

UK Parachuting was formerly known as the Ipswich Parachute Centre, and operated for many years at Ipswich Airport The airport was finally closed down in 1996 by the Local Authority in order for the site to be developed. After a brief period of operations in Oxfordshire and Cambridgeshire, UK Parachuting established a base at Old Buckenham airfield, Norfolk in 1998. January 2010, UK Parachuting relocated to Beccles Airfield.

Weather

Parachuting and skydiving activities are dependant upon weather conditions being favourable. Suitable weather conditions for tandem skydiving would be reasonably clear skies and not too breezy. UK weather is notoriously difficult to forecast with any degree of accuracy, especially more than 24 hours in advance. Customers are advised to phone us the day before their planned jump for a weather update. We will do our best to give you a good idea of the weather prospects and will advise on the best course of action. If the chances are reasonable, we will encourage you to make the journey to the airfield, and come prepared to make a day of it. Bear in mind that the weather is always on the move, and patience is often rewarded!
